Epiblema grandaevana

Species account (old)
This insect has been the subject of much research and comment [in] entomological literature. It was first discovered at South Shields by Christopher Eales about the middle of last century, a locality from which it has since disappeared. Gardner and Robson then found it at Hartlepool and along the Durham coast particularly where slipping of the cliffs had occurred, leading to the growth of extensive patches of coltsfoot [...] TCD made a concentrated effort to relocate the species, and succeeded in finding it at Castle Eden Denemouth in 1948 where D. A. Sheppard again took it in 1972 during an extensive survey of the insect fauna of the Dene. It has not been seen since (though not especially looked for), nor are there any other recent records for elsewhere [...].
